Bathroom remodeling in Tampa, FL
Tampa bathrooms in the older neighborhoods are small and were plumbed in galvanized steel. The crawl space means the layout is far more negotiable here than in a slab house.

What a Tampa bathroom usually needs
A 1920s bungalow bathroom is typically five feet by eight, with a window, a cast iron tub and hex tile. If you want a walk-in shower where the tub is, that is straightforward. If you want the shower on a different wall, the crawl space usually makes it possible — which is not the case in most Pinellas houses, and is worth knowing before you rule the idea out.
What we find behind the walls is the variable. Galvanized supply lines from the 1920s have usually corroded internally to a fraction of their original bore, and there is no sense tiling over them. We replace back to a sound connection and price that before we start rather than raising it mid-job.
- Layout changes worked from the crawl space
- Supply line condition assessed before the walls close up
- Bonded waterproofing membrane on every wet wall
- Cast iron tub reglazed or removed, your call
- Subfloor and joist repair where old leaks have got in

What Tampa changes about a bathroom remodel
Higher ceilings change the cabinet run
Bungalow ceilings in Seminole Heights and Hyde Park sit well above the eight feet a stock kitchen assumes, which is why an off-the-shelf run leaves a dead strip of wall above the uppers. Stacked cabinets, a taller crown or open shelving all answer it. Doing nothing looks like a shortcut, because it is one.
Pier-and-beam, not slab
Most Tampa bungalows sit over a crawl space. Plumbing that would mean cutting and patching a slab in Pinellas can often be reworked from underneath here — which genuinely changes what a layout change costs, usually in your favour.
Bathrooms that hold up to Florida humidity
A bathroom is the smallest room in the house and the easiest one to get wrong. Most of the failures we are called in to fix trace back to waterproofing that was rushed or skipped.
- Full waterproofing membraneBonded membrane behind every tiled wet wall, not just a coat of sealer.
- One crew, start to finishThe same team from demo to the final bead of silicone, not a rotation of subs.
- Built for how you will use it laterBlocking for future grab bars costs almost nothing to add now.

They gutted our 1960s kitchen and had us cooking again in three weeks. The crew showed up on time every single day and the cabinet work is flawless.

We converted a cramped tub into a walk-in shower for my mother. The tile work is beautiful, they were tidy every single day, and the price never moved from the quote.

New luxury vinyl plank through the whole downstairs. Careful with the furniture, spotless at the end of each day, and the transitions look factory-perfect.

Bathrooms in Tampa, answered
On its own, no — and that is worth knowing before you spend anything. In a 1920s Tampa house poor pressure is usually the old galvanized supply piping rather than the fixtures, so new taps on old pipe change very little. We will tell you at the estimate what you are actually dealing with.
Not always. Decades of small leaks around a toilet flange or a tub apron rot the sheathing and sometimes the joists beneath. In a crawl-space house we can get underneath and look before quoting, which is a real advantage — we would much rather find it then than on demo day with the fixtures already ordered.
Better, and noticeably so. Running new supply and waste lines from underneath is less disruptive and less expensive than cutting and patching concrete. It is one of the genuine advantages a Tampa bungalow has over a comparable house in Pinellas, and it means layout changes that would be uneconomic across the bay are often worth doing here.
